Where to Stay in Surfers Paradise with Kids

Surfers Paradise is not an overly large area of the Gold Coast with the entire area stretching along around 3km of the beach and the Pacific Ocean.

The main hotspots in Surfers Paradise are the Esplanade, the Gold Coast Highway and Cavill Avenue.  Along these three stretches, you will find the largest number of Surfers Paradise family hotel and resort options, as well as shops, restaurants, supermarkets and family-friendly attractions.

No matter which area you stay in, Surfers Paradise, you are only a short walk from wherever you want to go.

Novotel Surfers Paradise

If you’re looking for great family-friendly resorts, Surfers Paradise offers, look no further than the Novotel.  The Novotel Surfers Paradise is in a fantastic location, on the doorstep of Cavil Avenue where you will find all the shops, restaurants and entertainment.  It’s a 2-minute walk to the entry of Cavil Avenue and only one block from the beach.

This kids resort, Surfers Paradise offers is a four-star hotel with all the facilities you’d expect from a hotel chain like the Novotel.  Here you will find a great size swimming pool, complete with sun lounges and tables and chairs.  There is also a spa.  Other facilities include a gym, tennis court and restaurant (which serves a daily buffet breakfast).  The hotel also offers parking for families who bring their car.

Families are best accommodated in either the double rooms or the family rooms.  Double rooms include two double beds, while the family rooms have separate sleeping areas for the parents and the kids – with one double bed and two single beds.  All rooms come with a private balcony, air conditioning, TV and tea and coffee making facilities.

 

Why We Love it?

Location – the Novotel is located in the heart of Surfers Paradise, surrounded by shops and restaurants and an easy walk to the beach.  It’s a great family holiday accommodation Surfers Paradise has.

What’s Not to Love?

Limited facilities for the kids at the hotel – although the pool is a great size for the family.  So if you want something with loads of things to do for the kids – check out one of the other family hotels in Surfers Paradise that are listed in this guide.

Paradise Kids Resort

For the ultimate kids’ resort in Surfers Paradise, you can’t go past the Paradise Kids Resort – one of the very best Surfers Paradise resorts for families.  This place has so much to entertain the kids.  While a little out of the action of Surfers Paradise it’s still only a 10-minute walk along the Surfers Paradise Esplanade to Cavill Ave and around 300m to the beach.  Plus, the resort is surrounded by entertainment galore for kids young and old.

There are some awesome facilities here for kids of all ages.  Here you’ll find a fabulous water park, lagoon pool and spa, an ice-skating rink, playground and rock climbing.  There is also live entertainment, including a magician and trivia night. Plus there is a kids club!!!!  Each day, each child gets one complimentary session at the kid’s club, or you can pay for additional sessions.  You won’t find any other Surfers Paradise kid friendly hotels with as many facilities as the Paradise Resort.

Other facilities on-site include a bistro, café and bar and a small shop for those last-minute items.  There is also onsite parking, a BBQ area, self-serve laundry facility, a gym, and an adult-only spa and bar area.

There is a range of different rooms for families to choose from, accommodating four people right up to a family of 7.  There are also interconnecting rooms for larger families.  Most rooms are simple studio rooms, while some even have a second bedroom for families that prefer more privacy.  All rooms include a private balcony, air conditioning, WIFI and TV. Some of the bigger rooms have the addition of a kitchenette and gaming console for the kids.

Why We Love it? 

This kids’ hotel, Surfers Paradise has, offers so many fantastic kids facilities they won’t want to leave.  Even teenagers will be entertained.

What’s Not to Love? 

Location – this Surfers Paradise kids’ resort is located 1km from the heart of Surfers Paradise.  But the kids are never going to want to leave anyway.

Summary

Mantra Circle on Cavill

 

Mantra Circle on Cavill is a highly rated 4.5-star hotel providing modern self-contained accommodation right on Cavill Avenue.  Take one step out the hotels front doors, and you’re surrounded by the shops, restaurants and entertainment that Surfers Paradise is famous for. It’s also just a five-minute walk to Surfers Paradise Beach.  This hotel is a great choice for holidaymakers wanting everything at their fingertips.

The hotel has two lagoon-style swimming pools as well as an indoor swimming pool.  Other facilities include a relaxing sun terrace with BBQ facilities, a children’s playground, games room, gym, an in-house cinema for rainy days and free parking for those families who brought their car.

Standard size families are best accommodated in the two-bedroom apartment, which has two single beds and 1 large double bed. However, if you are looking for some large family accommodation Surfers Paradise has, the Mantra has you covered too.  Large families can stay in the three-bedroom apartment, which includes two rooms with a double bed and the third room with 2 single beds. 

All rooms have a fully equipped kitchen, washing machine, dining area, spa bath, TV with cable, air conditioning, and a large private balcony.

Why We Love it? 

The Mantra Circle on Cavill has it all – location, self-contained and heaps of great facilities.  Definitely, one of the best family accommodation, Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast has on offer

What’s Not to Love? 

It is one of the more pricey resorts in Surfers Paradise for families in this guide- but being self-contained families can save a stack by not having to eat out all the time.  The facilities here are fantastic for families too.

Mantra Legends Hotel 

If you want a hotel where you can walk to the beach and local shopping areas, the Mantra Legends Hotel is situated in an exceptional location.  Mantra Legends Hotel is just 400m from Cavill Avenue and only a 2-minute walk to the beach, as well as being surrounded by restaurants and just one block from the Q1 SkyPoint Observation Deck. 

Facilities at the Mantra Legends Hotel include a large swimming pool and garden terrace with sun lounges, a fully equipped gym and sauna, an onsite restaurant and bar, including a kid-friendly buffet.  Parking is also available onsite at a charge of $20 per day. 

A standard family room includes two double beds and a private balcony with city or hinterland views.  Other room facilities include air conditioning, a refrigerator with mini-bar, tea and coffee making facilities and TV. 

Why We Love it? 

Just a five-minute walk to Cavill Avenue and only two-minute walk to the beach.  Surrounded by numerous restaurants and one block from the SkyPoint Observation Deck.

What’s Not to Love? 

Free Wi-Fi is only available in public areas, and private hotel parking is $20 per day.  However, you will be so close to everything you want in your Surfers Paradise family holiday that you won’t need your car. 

Summary 

The Mantra Legends Hotel is in an excellent location with everything you need at your fingertips and amazing views of the Gold Coast. Prices are great too.

Voco Gold Coast 

The Voco Gold Coast is in a great location.  It is right across the road from the Q1 SkyPoint Observation Deck, one of your must-see attractions Surfers Paradise, as well as being a ten-minute stroll to Cavill Avenue and a five-minute stroll to the endless golden sandy beaches. 

One of the best things about this hotel’s location is having a tram stop just outside.  This is convenient if you have smaller children who might not like the walk to the heart of Surfers Paradise or if you don’t have your car with you and want to visit some of the other beaches on the Gold Coast.

The hotel has plenty of facilities to keep the family busy.  Onsite, there are two swimming pools, a gym, a games room, Waves Buffet Restaurant for breakfast or dinner, Clifford’s Grill and Lounge for gourmet pizza and Social House café and bar for cocktails.

Family rooms include two double beds, and if required, there is a small charge for an extra fold-out bed.  The rooms also include a TV, air-conditioning, refrigerator and tea and coffee making facilities and great views. 

Why We Love it? 

Located right on the Gold Coast Tram Line in a great location close to restaurants, the SkyPoint Observation Deck and only minutes to the beach.

What’s Not to Love? 

Not a lot of entertainment on-site for smaller kids, but if you’re using it as a base for your stay to visit all the hotspots of the Gold Coast, it is a great choice. 

Summary 

With its proximity to the Gold Coast Tram Line and only minutes to the beach and shopping hotspots, the Voco Gold Coast is a great choice for your family holiday to Surfers Paradise.

Tiki Hotel Apartments Surfers Paradise


The Tiki Hotel Apartments are located in the heart of Surfers Paradise, just a quick four-minute stroll to Cavill Avenue and the Paradise Centre if you like to shop.  Just two blocks from the world-famous, golden sand beaches, restaurants, cafes, and entertainment and only 700m to SkyPoint Observation Deck, a must-see on your visit to Surfers Paradise.

The kids will love the large swimming pool with slide, while mum and dad will love the poolside bar and the heated rooftop spa overlooking the Gold Coast skyline.  There is onsite parking, which is charged at $20 per night.

Families can choose between one- or three-bedroom fully self-contained apartments.  All apartments have their own private enclosed patio area and BBQ, fully equipped kitchen, separate living and dining areas, air conditioning, and TV with access to cable channels.

Why We Love it? 

The location is perfect, and having self-contained spacious accommodation is always welcomed for families.   The private patio and BBQ is a plus, especially if you want to have a night in.

What’s Not to Love? 

The Tiki Hotel Apartments are located on the Nerang River, so you’re not likely to get ocean views. However, the position is first-rate, with everything you need for your family vacation to Surfers Paradise.

Mantra on View Hotel 

 

The Mantra on View Hotel is a 4.5-star hotel located just 500m to Cavill Avenue and only 150m from the beach.  Loads of restaurants and shopping areas are within walking distance and only a three-minute walk to the Slingshot and Vomatron Funpark for the big kids in your family.

The hotel includes a fantastic pool area surrounded by lush gardens including sun lounges and shaded tables and chairs.  Also on-site, there is a coffee house, gym, spa and the onsite NOSH Pan Asian restaurant offers daily buffet breakfast and features exotic Asian specialities for lunch and dinner. 

Families are best accommodated in family rooms which include two double beds, a private balcony with views of Surfers Paradise and the magnificent Pacific Ocean.  Other room features include a TV with satellite channels, tea and coffee making facilities and air conditioning. 

Why We Love it?

Great location with exceptional views and easy access to everything you want from your family holiday to Surfers Paradise.

What’s Not to Love? 

Not a lot for younger kids to do in the hotel, however, the poolside area is amazing and will keep them occupied for a few hours each day. 

Summary 

The Mantra on View Hotel is perfect if you’re looking for great budget family accommodation Surfers Paradise has on offer.  It is in the heart of Surfers Paradise and has a great family-friendly swimming pool – perfect for your family trip on the Gold Coast.

Grosvenor Beachfront Apartments

The Grosvenor Beachfront Apartments is situated right on the beach and is only a short 500m walk to the famous Cavill Mall.  Many restaurants and cafes surround it, and the bus stops right outside the hotel’s front doors.

Apart from the fabulous beachfront location, facilities at the Grosvenor Beachfront Apartments include a swimming pool with sun lounges and picnic tables, a spa and sauna, tennis court and free private parking. 

Being an older style apartment building, the rooms are considerably larger than the newer hotels.  The best option for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids is the two-bedroom apartment with 2 single beds and one large double bed.  Each apartment includes a private balcony, fully equipped kitchen, washing machine, fans, microwave, dining area, oven and stovetop, coffee machine, cable TV, and radiant beach views.

 

Why We Love it?

Located right on the beach, you can’t get much better than this.  Plus, having a fully equipped kitchen and separate sleeping area for the kids make this a great home-away-from-home.

What’s Not to Love? 

An older style apartment hotel meant for families who are happy to service and entertain themselves. However, if you want to be pampered in luxury, maybe look at one of the other hotels in this review. 

Summary 

For families looking for great priced self-contained accommodation right on the beach – you can’t beat the Grosvenor Beachfront Apartments.  This place is the perfect choice for those wanting a longer stay to relax and unwind and take in the views of the famous Surfers Paradise and surrounding beaches.

Trilogy Surfers Paradise 

The Trilogy Surfers Paradise is a 4.5-star hotel apartment building only a ten-minute walk to Cavill Avenue and a 5-minute walk to the beach.  Situated directly across from the Slingshot and Vomatron Fun Park and close to restaurants and cafes, you have easy access to all Surfers Paradise has to offer.

Facilities at Trilogy Surfers Paradise Apartments include an outdoor heated swimming pool set amongst lush tropical gardens, a covered BBQ area, a sauna, spa, a gym, library and games room.  The hotel also offers free covered parking. 

Families are best accommodated in the two-bedroom apartment with 2 single beds in one room and 1 large double bed in the other.  If you want a little more luxury, you could stay in the Penthouse Apartment with ocean and river views which includes three-bedrooms each with 1 large double bed.  All rooms feature a fully equipped kitchen and laundry facilities, a private balcony, TV with satellite channels, air-conditioning and heating and ceiling fans.

Why We Love it? 

Lovely modern self-contained accommodation, great facilities and easy walk to everything in Surfers Paradise.

What’s Not to Love?

It’s not in the heart of Surfers Paradise – but it’s 800m to the centre of Cavill Ave, so not much a walk anyway.  Plus families might appreciate being out of the busy centre. 

Summary

The Trilogy Surfers Paradise offers a family fantastic, spacious self-contained accommodation in a great location and provides guests with excellent onsite facilities.

Paradise Centre Apartments

Located above the Paradise Centre, which is the heart of Surfers Paradise’s shopping and entertainment hub – you can’t get any more central than the Paradise Centre Apartments.  Plus, it’s only 100m from the famous Surfers Paradise beach and Esplanade. 

The Paradise Centre Apartments have a stunning pool that overlooks the beach, complete with plenty of sun lounges and BBQ facilities.  Other great facilities include a tennis court, sauna, gym and parking.

All the apartments at the Paradise Centre include fully equipped kitchens, satellite TV and separate dining and living area.  Families are best accommodated in the two-bedroom apartment with 2 single beds and one large double bed in separate rooms.  There are also 3 bedroom apartments for larger families.  Other features the rooms provide are a private balcony with extensive views of the ocean and the Gold Coast, washing facilities, and air conditioning.

Why We Love it?

Location, location, location! Directly above the Paradise Centre Shopping centre and such a short walk away from the beach. 

What’s Not to Love?

You are in the heart of Surfers Paradise here which may not be for everyone. If you want something a little quieter, perhaps consider one of the other hotels in this review that are just outside the area.

Summary

If you’re after self-contained apartments in the centre of Surfers Paradise, then the Paradise Centre Apartments are what you’re after.  Here you have direct access to the entertainment-filled Paradise Centre and only metres from the beach.

Breakfree Beachpoint 

If you’re after a beachfront family apartment in the quieter area of Surfers Paradise, then the Breakfree Beachpoint is worth considering.  Located across the road from beautiful golden sandy beaches, the Breakfree Beachpoint provides large two-bedroom family apartments within a ten-minute walk along the buzzing Esplanade to the centre of Surfers Paradise.

Right on the Esplanade of Surfers Paradise, this family apartment hotel has one indoor heated swimming pool and one large outdoor heated swimming pool with BBQ facilities and sun lounges.  The hotel also has a tennis court, a sauna, and a spa when you’re not taking in the sun and surf, which is at your doorstep.  There is also an internet kiosk in the lobby for all guests to use at their leisure and free parking is available onsite.

Families are best accommodated in the two-bedroom apartment which has 2 single beds and 1 large double bed each in their own separate bedroom.  Apartments include a fully equipped kitchen, ceiling fans, air-conditioning, laundry facilities, seating area, cable TV and private balcony.

 

Why We Love it?

This is your home away from home in the spacious, modern and fully equipped apartments.  Right on the beach and only a ten-minute walk to Cavill Avenue, you’re close enough for the action of Surfers Paradise but not too close to the hustle and bustle of most tourist spots.

What’s Not to Love?

If you’re not keen on walking to the centre of Surfers Paradise, then maybe choose one of the hotels closer to Cavill Avenue. However, the walk along the Esplanade is fantastic, and the view is superb.

Summary

The Breakfree Beachpoint Apartments are one of the best there is for your family holiday to Surfers Paradise.  The spacious and neatly furnished apartments provide superb views of the beautiful Pacific Ocean and are a great starting point for your trip to the glorious Gold Coast.

Genesis Apartments Gold Coast 

The Genesis Apartments are located just a 100m stroll to a patrolled beach and a short 10- minute stroll to Cavill Avenue.  They are so close to shopping and an abundance of restaurants and markets and only a 5-minute tram ride to the Casino and Pacific Fair Shopping Centre.  Plus, the Q1 Skypoint Observation Deck is only 2-minutes down the road.

The hotel has all the amenities you need for a relaxing and entertaining family holiday. Here you will find free Wi-Fi, secured parking, a swimming pool with sun lounges and BBQ facilities with a picnic area.  There is also a games room with table tennis and billiards and a tennis court and gym.

The best accommodation for a family is in a two-bedroom apartment which includes 2 single beds and 1 double bed. There is also a three-bedroom apartment for a larger family with 2 single beds in two bedrooms and 1 double bed in the third. 

Also worth noting is the size of these apartments – they are HUGE!  Each includes a private balcony, a TV and DVD player with access to cable TV and pay-per-view channels, fully equipped kitchen and laundry facilities, fans, air-conditioning and an eating area.

Why We Love it?

These self-contained apartments are spacious and furnished beautifully with great views and close to everything you need.

What’s Not to Love?

It is a good walk away from the hustle and bustle of Surfers Paradise and Cavill Mall; however, it might be a good thing to be away from the busy centre.

Summary

For families, after spacious self-contained accommodation, you really can’t beat the Genesis Apartments.  While around 700 m to the heart of Surfers Paradise, it’s only two blocks from the beach making it great for families.
