Where to stay in Stow on the Wold?

Given all the main tourist attractions are in the city centre – this is where it’s recommended you stay.  The closer you can stay to the town centre, the less walking you and the kids will need to do.

However, when it comes to hotels in the city centre – they tend not to be the best child friendly hotels as they often can’t accommodate a family in a single room and they can be rather expensive.  They generally don’t have parking either.

The good news is that Stow on the Wold has several apartments and holiday homes available.  These properties come with kitchens, usually 1 or 2 bedrooms and often a washing machine, and generally free on site parking.

The downside of staying in an apartment is you don’t tend to get any additional facilities you’d expect from a hotel – such as a bar or a restaurant.

At the end of the day, provided your accommodation is within walking distance of the city centre, any accommodation you choose will be fine.  Alternatively, if you have a car, you can afford to stay out of town and drive as needed.

You can easily see the location of the accommodation covered in this guide on the map above.  But to make it even easier for you, we’ve listed the property’s distance from the city centre in the table above.

Best Stow on the Wold Hotels for Families Review

After hours of research and spending some time exploring Stow on the Wold, I’ve shortlisted 10 of the best accommodation Stow on the Wold has for families below.

Church Suite

Going by the name ‘Church Suite’, you may already have an idea that this apartment is in a former church.

Conveniently in the centre of town, this old church has been renovated to a high standard, and you will notice some unique details, such as the open void in the bedroom to let light in from the huge old church windows.

The property accommodates families of 4, with a double bed in the upstairs bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room. If you want extra space during the day, you’ll need to fold up the sofa bed or sit on it as a bed.

The kitchen is well equipped to prepare meals using an oven, stovetop, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster – and there is a small dining table for eating meals.

Whilst there is no on site parking, there is free parking a short distance from the property.

What’s to love?

The location is centrally located, so you can easily go sightseeing – plus, it’s a unique property to stay in.

What’s not to love?

For a hotel near Stow on the Wold, not having parking is a tad inconvenient; however, free parking a short distance away solves this problem.

Summary

Hotels near Stow on the Wold don’t get much more unique than a converted church. Whilst compact and the kids will need to share a sofa bed, the central location, full kitchen and original design make this a bit of a standout property.

The Cotswold Apartment is a 1 bedroom home located an easy 500 metre walk from the centre of town. For those driving into town, you’ll be pleased to know the property has free on site parking, making sightseeing around the Cotswolds super convenient.

The corner kitchen is compact but has all the appliances you need to self-cater on your holiday with an oven, stovetop, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster – and even a dishwasher.

If the weather is warm, there is a large outdoor patio with a great dining table to eat alfresco.  Alternatively, there is an enclosed glasshouse sunroom which is another great option.

What’s to love?

Centrally located, yet still with on site parking, makes this home a great option. Plus, the 2 dining options allow the family to spread out – great for teens wanting space.

The sofa bed conundrum of folding out and in for day/night is a bit of a pain – however, if you’re out sightseeing, you can just leave the sofa bed folded out.
