Where to stay in Cirencester?

In terms of where to stay in Cirencester – given all the main tourist attractions are in the city centre – this is where it’s recommended you stay.  The closer you can stay to the town centre, the less walking you and the kids will need to do.

While there are some good central properties to choose from – accommodation in town is fairly limited, so in some cases, you may need to book a place outside of town.  If you’re driving, this won’t really be a problem.  If you’re not driving – then book your accommodation fast!

You can easily see the location of the accommodation covered in this guide on the map above.  But to make it even easier for you, we’ve listed the property’s distance from the City Centre in the table above too.

Best Apartments and Family Hotels in Cirencester Review

After hours of research and exploring Cirencester, I’ve shortlisted 10 of the best family accommodation Cirencester offers.

Barrel Store

Barrel Store is one of the cheap hotels in Cirencester, in fact, it is actually a hostel – but don’t let this deter you.  This is a super stylish hostel where families will feel comfortable. Plus it is smack-bang in the centre of town, with everything on your doorstep – restaurants, shops, cafes, museums.

Family rooms sleep 4 in 2 bunk beds with your own private bathroom. Whilst the rooms are basic, there is a large communal kitchen with many tables so you can enjoy your family meals without sharing with others. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a fridge to store meals and a large table with comfy chairs.

Even though this is cheap accommodation Cirencester has on offer, it doesn’t skimp on the furnishings. The beautiful craft features throughout include locally-made warm woollen throws, artisan-made chairs and light shades; even the bunks are shaped by the hands of traditionally trained welders.

What’s to love?

This is a super cheap hotel Cirencester offers, yet centrally located and has a kitchen, so you can even save more money by self catering.

What’s not to love?

The room is on the small side and you will be sleeping in single bunk beds, but why not consider it like a slumber party with the kids! And keep in mind there’s no parking – however being centrally located this shouldn’t be a deterrent.

Summary

Budget hotels Cirencester offers don’t get much better than the Barrel Store.  Whilst technically a hostel, when you walk through the Cotswold stone arch into the artisan interior – you will feel like you’re in a chic hotel. Yes, the rooms are small with limited facilities; however the central location means no long walks and the communal kitchen is great for families wanting to self cater.

The Old Brewhouse

If you like accommodation with charm and character, The Old Brewhouse fits the bill. It is a restored 17th century townhouse within easy walking distance to Cirencester town centre – around 500 metres (less than 5 minutes, pending little ones), and there is free parking for those families driving into town.

The family rooms can accommodate families of 4 as they have a double bed and 2 single beds. Whilst room amenities are limited to tea/coffee facilities, an English Breakfast is included daily in the Breakfast Room.

The Old Brewhouse offers additional space with a lovely outdoor courtyard to relax in, read a book or for littlies to explore the flowers and insects – you’ll feel like you’re a world away from the town centre.

What’s to love?

Great location with only a short walk into town, plus free parking for those who’ve driven in. A free daily breakfast is also a great inclusion.

What’s not to love?

It’s a bit of a tight squeeze for the family all in one room, and if you like more of a modern style – you have to remember these are traditional rooms.

Summary

Traditional accommodation filled with character is what you’ll find at the Old Brewhouse. Whilst the whole family shares the one room, the outdoor courtyard garden provides additional space to spread out and the daily breakfast is perfect for filling up the kids before starting your day of sightseeing.
