Where is the Warwick Le Lagon – Vanuatu?
The Warwick Le Lagon Resort is just 3.5 km south from the town of Port Vila. You could quickly be enjoying the facilities at this resort in under 30 minutes from the moment you leave the airport.
This area of Port Vila is very quiet with no other restaurants or places to eat close by. There is however the beautiful Erakor Island Resort just a short ferry ride away – the wharf is right next door to the Warwick. Erakor Island is a great place to spend the day or even a few days – you can read our review on Erakor Island here.
Who Should Stay at the Warwick Le Lagon Resort?
First up let’s talk about who should consider staying at the Warwick Le Lagon Resort? I recommend the Warwick Le Lagon Resort for families who:
- Want a good value 5-star resort offering fantastic facilities for the kids;
- Want to spend a good amount of their time in Vanuatu relaxing within their hotel;
- Don’t want to spend most of their day’s sightseeing, as there are much more convenient areas to do sightseeing from other than the Warwick; and
- Don’t necessarily want to be close to the centre of town, as you will need to get a taxi or bus each time you want to go to town.
If you’ve been to Vanuatu before and just looking for a great hotel with excellent facilities (for both the kids and adults), then this is a great spot. If you are coming to Vanuatu for the first time and want to do lots of sightseeing, you might be best to stay somewhere more central (like the Moorings Hotel) or split your time between here and somewhere else.

Facilities at the Warwick Le Lagon
The Warwick Le Lagon is huge, and there is certainly no shortage of things to do for both the kids and adults. Here’s a brief overview of all that’s on offer.
The Pools
The Warwick Le Lagoon has three lagoon-style swimming pools at the resort, all within close proximity to each other.
Photo number one above is the top swimming pool which has a large seated area for the swim-up pool bar. In the centre above is the middle pool, which has a smaller seated area at the swim-up pool bar. Lastly is the bottom pool, which has two spas connected to it. There is a great range of sun loungers around the pools as well as the Pool Grill for snacks, drinks and meals.
The Beach
The Warwick Le Lagon sits on a gorgeous lagoon which has calm, crystal clear water just perfect for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking and SUPing. However while the water in the lagoon is nice, the actual beach at the Warwick is nothing special (don’t expect much sand for sandcastle building).
The best place for swimming or building sandcastles is over at Erakor Island, which is just 2 minutes by ferry – here the beach is lovely and perfect for swimming.
Whether you go swimming from the Warwick or over at Erakor Island resort, it’s important to note that the beach area has quite a lot of coral, so it’s essential to wear reef shoes in the water. There is also a lot of starfish, sea cucumbers and coral in the water – so it’s not ideal to go in the water without shoes.
Water Sports
There is an excellent range of water sports on offer – which are all free to guests staying at the resort. Water sports include snorkelling, SUPing, windsurfing, kayaking and catamaran sailing. You can also get snorkelling equipment and life jackets here as well.
Fitness & Sports
For those that like to remain active while on holidays, there is a range of sports and fitness activities including a 12 hole golf course, two tennis courts and a fitness centre.
Oasis Day Spa
If you’re after a massage or a range of spa treatments during your stay, then Oasis Day Spa is the place to be. The day spa is open daily between 9 am, and 5 pm and bookings are a must. Click here for the menu.
Funtastik Kids Club
Kids between the ages of 3-12 will just love the Funtastick Kids Club at the Warwick Le Lagon. The kids club is completely free for guests. For children under 3, they can also attend with a parent or a nanny. Babysitting can also be arranged at the rate of 300vt per hour.
The kids club area is really big – one of the biggest I’ve ever seen. There are multiple rooms all with dedicated play areas, including a big movie area and an outside jungle gym and lawn area for the kids. They also have a huge range of organised activities which even older kids who may not want to go to kids club might enjoy too. Activities include headband making, jewellery making, trivia, swimming, t-shirt painting, drawing, games, arts and crafts, cooking classes, movies, PlayStation and more. See a full list of pre-organised activities below (click on the image to enlarge).
The Funtastik Kids Club is open daily from 8 am to 4.30 pm for kids aged 3-12 and then again from 530pm to 9 pm for kids aged.
Daily Activities at the Warwick Le Lagon Resort
The resort also has a range of organised daily activities such as group walks, culture talks, language lessons, weaving and trips to local schools. Activities change each day, so check at the resort whats on each day.
Dining Options at Warwick Le Lagon Resort
There are three dining options at the Warwick Le Lagon Resort. While we didn’t eat at all the restaurants during our visit, the food we did eat was absolutely divine, and the service was fantastic.
Lagoon Terrace Restaurant
The Lagoon Terrace Restaurant is open each day from 7 am to 1030 am for breakfast and dinner from 6 pm to 930 pm.
Each morning this is where the buffet breakfast is served. If you happen to depart before breakfast, just let the guys at reception know, and they will be only too happy to prepare you a continental breakfast to take with you.
The atmosphere at the Lagoon Terrace is casual, and dinners are themed buffets with nightly entertainment – see below.
Pool Grill & Swim Up Pool Bar
The best place for something to eat during the day is the Pool Grill which is situated right by the pool. The Pool Grill is open throughout the day from 11.30 am to 3 pm, and the swim-up pool bar is open until 10 pm.
Food on offer includes salads, burgers, pizza and chips as well as cocktails, juices and soft drinks – see the menu below.
Happy Hour is served here between 5 pm and 6 pm.
.
Wild Ginger
Wild Ginger serves up Asian meals and has two Teppanyaki grills. Wild Ginger is open each night from 6 pm.
Lobby Bar
There is also the Lobby Bar for a coffee, juice or even a cocktail. The Lobby Bar is open from 7 am daily.
Accommodation at the Warwick Le Lagon Resort
With more than 140 rooms, there is a range of family accommodation options at the Warwick Le Lagon Resort including family suites, bungalows, villas and overwater rooms. See the map above for the location of the various room types.
Garden or Lagoon View Rooms
The cheapest rooms for families are the garden (photo 2 and 3 above) or lagoon view rooms (photo one above). These rooms either look out over the tropical gardens or the stunning Erakor Lagoon – the lagoon rooms are more expensive than the garden rooms.
These rooms can accommodate a family of up to 4 people. Rooms come with either a king bed or two double beds or a queen and two singles. There is also the option of interconnecting rooms for larger families.
All rooms include AC, ceiling fans, terrace with outdoor furniture, tea and coffee making facilities, seating area, wifi at a charge, and a TV.
Lagoon Superior
For couples with a baby, there is the option of a lagoon superior room. These rooms are only able to accommodate two adults and a baby with either a king or two singles – however there is the option of interconnecting rooms for families.
All rooms include AC, ceiling fans, terrace with outdoor furniture, tea and coffee making facilities, seating area, wifi at a charge, and a TV.
Garden or Lagoon Bungalows
These bungalows area standalone and are surrounded by tropical gardens or situated on the edge of the Erakor Lagoon.
The bungalows can accommodate families of up to 4 people with either a king bed or two double beds.
All rooms include AC, ceiling fans, terrace with outdoor furniture, tea and coffee making facilities, seating area, wifi at a charge, and a TV.
Overwater Villas
For those that want to splurge, there is also the option of an overwater villa. These villas are on a small island which is connected to the mainland by a bridge. These villas are in the perfect spot for swimming and snorkelling.
Each villa can accommodate just two people in a king bed, but there is also the option of interconnecting rooms. These villas feature a spacious living area that opens out to a private overwater deck, luxurious deep tub, coffee machine, AC, TV and wifi with charge.
Villas with Private Pool
There are also four luxury villas which come with their own private swimming pool:
- Shefa Pool Villa: Can accommodate just two people or connect with the Pacific Pool Villa to accommodate four people. This villa features a spacious living area that opens out to a private overwater deck, heated plunge pool, luxurious deep tub, coffee machine, AC, TV and wifi with charge.
- Efate Pool Villa: Can accommodate just two people. This villa features a spacious living area that opens out to a huge private overwater deck, large swimming pool, luxurious deep tub, coffee machine, AC, TV and wifi with charge.
- Pacific Pool Villa: Can accommodate just two people or connect with the Shefa Pool Villa to accommodate four people. This villa features a spacious living area that opens out to a private overwater deck, good size swimming pool, luxurious deep tub, coffee machine, AC, TV and wifi with charge.
- Erakor Residence: This two bedroom villa can accommodate families of up to 4 people with one bedroom offering a king bed and the other having two double beds. Both bedrooms have a large ensuite. The villa has a massive furnished patio area, private plunge pool, coffee machine, AC, TV and wifi with charge.
Getting to Warwick Le Lagon Resort
If you’re coming from the airport, its best to arrange transfers in advance. I recommend doing this yourself as the transfers arranged from the resort are very expensive. We paid just 2000 VT for our private transfers, which included a stop at the supermarket for drinks and snacks.
The other option is to walk outside the airport (it’s super tiny) to the road and catch a bus to the resort. The buses have a “B” on the number plate, and you can flag them down. As the driver pulls up, tell him where you are going and if he is headed in that direction, he will tell you to hop on. He will then take you right to the resort. When you get off – that’s when you pay the fare. It will just cost you 150 vt per adult, 100vt per highschool student and 50vt per child.
You can get a taxi too. A taxi is identified by a “T” on the number plate, and you can flag them down. The driver will take you to the resort immediately, but it’s best to ask for a price first. Expect to pay around 1200vt.
Where to Book you Stay?
I recommend booking through Booking.com for the best flexibility (you can always cancel and book elsewhere if you find a better deal). Rooms start at $200 AUD for a family of 4, which includes breakfast in a garden view room which is pretty great value considering the facilities on offer here.
Warwick Le Lagon – our Verdict
Personally, I am not a fan of the huge resort type properties – however given the number of facilities on offer here and the excellent value for money – I can see why many families would love the Warwick Le Lagon Resort. For families that want the 5 star experience without completely blowing the budget – the Warwick Le Lagon is well worth considering.
However for those that prefer a more relaxed, casual and quiet vibe – I’d recommend you consider somewhere else like the Erakor Island Resort which is just a short ferry ride from the resort.
