The Royal Hotel Hughenden
If you’re looking for accommodation in Hughenden QLD, The Royal Hotel offers 45 comfortable units, including ones geared towards families. Located close to supermarkets and only 2 minutes to the centre of town, everything is at your fingertips… or should we say footsteps.
Semi self-contained rooms include a queen bed and single bed (or bunks), along with a kitchenette. If you don’t require kitchen facilities, the Family Rooms containing a queen and two single beds will be fine. Alternatively, for larger families, there is a three bedroom cottage with the ability to sleep 8, including a kitchenette.
Great onsite facilities add to the convenience of the Royal Hotel, including a restaurant and bar, swimming pool, BBQ area and self-serve laundry.
What’s to love?
The Royal Hotel Hughenden has a nice swimming pool which is great after a long day of travel or sightseeing, plus its just 500m from the Flinders Discovery Centre.
What’s not to love?
Being a hotel room at the Hughenden Royal Hotel, you won’t be able to prepare anything too fancy for the kids to eat. However, family rooms come with a microwave and of course, you’ve got the pub on site for meals and BBQ facilities.

Allen Terry Caravan Park Hughenden
Hughenden Caravan Park is located on a spacious 5 acres of land next door to the town pool and skate park nearby… pretty enticing for kids.
With standard cabins containing a double bed and set of bunks, kitchenettes, must have air conditioning and verandas – they are ideal for families. Alternatively, you can upgrade to a deluxe two bedroom cabin for extra space and privacy.
Additional facilities at the park include a laundry, BBQ’s and a vehicle wash-down bay – to rinse off all that outback dust.
What’s to love?
Being self contained, you can prepare all the family meals in these cabins. Plus, everyone will have plenty of space if you opt for one of the two-bedroom cabins at the Allen Terry Caravan Park Hughenden.
What’s not to love?
The Hughenden Allen Terry Caravan Park is located 1km out of town – so you’ll have to drive, but no doubt you’ll have your car with you anyway.

The Great Western Hotel
To experience true Australian hospitality in the outback, The Great Western Hotel is the place to stay! Centrally located, with great family friendly rooms and reasonably priced too.
The hotel is boutique with only one family room available with a queen and two single beds. However, five rooms accommodate up to three people with a queen and single bed. All rooms come with tea and coffee making facilities.
A restaurant on site is open for lunch and dinner and there is a fully licensed bar and bottleshop.
What’s to love?
Nice modern rooms, plus you’re only 250 metres from the Flinders Discovery Centre.

Rest Easi Motel
Normally, staying near a highway is not for everyone. However, being adjacent to the Flinders Highway ensures if you stay at the Rest Easi Motel, you can make an early escape onto your next destination… which, if you’re following the dinosaur trail, you can get excited about the next stop!
There are 15 clean and comfortable rooms, including family rooms with bedding configurations of double and single beds. All rooms have a fridge, microwave, a/c, free WiFi and TV with Foxtel movies.
