Where to Stay in Ipoh with Kids

When it comes to the best location to stay in Ipoh, I recommend you stay as close to the old town area as possible. The old town is where most of the attractions are, so by staying in an Ipoh old town hotel you’re easily within walking distance to all the main tourist sites.

In this Ipoh hotel list, I’ve also listed a few hotels in the new part of town, just across the river from the old town area. Often, in this area, you will get much better value for your money, yet still be within walking distance to the main attractions. This is also a better option for those that aren’t keen on staying in the centre of the tourist area.

If you want a super budget hotel in Ipoh town, consider a family room in an Ipoh hostel or a cheap homestay in Ipoh which has a shared bathroom. Hostels aren’t just for young travellers after all – they often provide great facilities for families too.

If you want something a little more spacious but still a cheap Ipoh hotel near town – then be prepared to move a little further from the old town. However, Grab is widely available in town and a cheap and easy way to get around to all the main sites.

The Best Places to Stay in Ipoh with Kids

Below I’ve listed my top picks for a great cheap hotel in Ipoh for family.   The blue pins in the map below show the location of all the accommodation.  Zoom the map in and out for a better view.

Abby by the River offers families of varied sizes the chance to stay in a budget hotel Ipoh town offers, in a great location with clean and spacious rooms.

All rooms at this hotel in Ipoh town centre are fully air conditioned and come with a flat screen television, a small wardrobe for luggage storage and a private bathroom with shower facilities. Every room booking also includes a continental breakfast on the hotel’s rooftop, and guests can make use of the free wifi during their stay.

Abby by the River is in a convenient location for seeing local sights such as Mural Art’s Lane, which is just 260m away. Little India is just 750m away as is Concubine Lane, with its myriad of colourful stalls and shops. It’s a little further from the station than some of our other choices, but it’s still only 1.2km so within easy reach.
