Where are the Best Anaheim Family Hotels for Disneyland
I thought it was important to discuss where you should book in terms of location for your trip to Disneyland.
As you can imagine, together Disneyland and California Adventure Park cover a huge area. They sort of make a rectangle shape, with the two long sides being Walnut Street to the left and Harbour Boulevard to the right. Then you’ve got Ball Road across the top and Katella Ave along the bottom.
If you want to stay at one of the affordable hotels in Anaheim, which is within walking distance to the parks, it’s recommended that you stay as close as possible to the main entrance on Harbour Boulevard. Anywhere too far past Katella Avenue and it’s going to be more than a 15 minute walk.
Also, off Harbour Boulevard, you’ve got Disney Way, parallel to Katella Avenue. You will find some of the cheapest hotels near Disneyland, Anaheim in this area. However, the further along, the longer the walk. But this area is also very well served by buses to Disneyland.
Of course, if you have a car with you and plan to drive to Disneyland each day, you can stay wherever you like.
Best Disneyland Hotels for Families
After hours and hours of research trying to find the best cheap hotels in Anaheim for our own trip, I’ve shortlisted 12 hotels. All of these hotels are among the very best budget hotels in Anaheim and are in great locations.
The cheaper the hotel, the further away it is. But no hotel in this guide is more than 1 mile / 1.6km away from the parks and all have access to public transport.
Now let’s just say from the start – there really aren’t any “cheap” hotels near Disneyland. However, my top tip for booking accommodation for Disneyland is to book as soon as you know you’re going. You can always book accommodation with free cancellation if you’re concerned about changing your mind down the track.
I can tell you from my own experience that I booked accommodation some months out and then I looked a few weeks out just to see if there was anything better and all the accommodation had almost doubled in price – including the hotel I had originally booked. Phew, was I glad I had booked early – those prices were nasty!
Ok, let’s get into it and look at the very best budget hotels near Disneyland, Anaheim.
Best Western Plus Park Place Inn – Mini Suites
The Best Western Plus Park Place Inn – Mini Suites is hands down one of the best Disneyland hotels for families who want to walk everywhere. With only a 5 minute walk to Disneyland, this is by far the closest hotel to the parks in this guide.
Not only are you right across from the entrance of Disneyland here, but you’re also within walking distance to loads of great places to eat. You’ve got IHOP just across the road, as well as Denny’s and a range of other family friendly places just down the road. There’s even a small convenience store across the road.
Accommodation for families comes as standard hotel rooms with two queen beds. Each room has tea and coffee making facilities as well as a microwave which is so handy for heating up some breakfast before you hit the parks and heat up any leftovers from the day for dinner.
If you’re after Disneyland hotels for 6 people, the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn also has mini suites for larger families. These family suites near Disneyland feature two queen beds and a sofa bed – plus all the standard amenities the hotel rooms have.
The hotel also features a small swimming pool and spa, a kiosk where you can grab basic food items and groceries, and there’s also a free breakfast served each morning. Plus, onsite parking (extra) is available for those that have driven into town.
What’s to love?
Location, location, location! Honestly, for such a great priced hotel, you won’t do any better in terms of the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn location. This is one of the closest hotels to Disneyland, Anaheim you’ll get at this rate.
What’s not to love?
While this is one of the kids friendly hotels in Anaheim with a swimming pool, it’s not overly big. But certainly big enough for a quick swim at the end of a long day at Disneyland.
Summary
If you’re looking for the best family hotel Anaheim has, which is affordable and super close to Disneyland, look no further; the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn is exactly what you’re after. This is one of the great hotels with family suites near Disneyland, as well as all the facilities you need for an awesome trip.

Best Western Plus Anaheim Inn
The Best Western Plus Anaheim Inn is pretty much the best hotel in Anaheim near Disneyland, why? Location – only a 5 minute walk to Disneyland’s main gate; it is so close in fact you can watch the nightly Disneyland fireworks from a shared terrace at the hotel!
The location is also convenient for meals, with American eats at Tony Roma’s across the road, a couple of Chinese restaurants nearby and some cocktail bars if you’re able to enjoy an aperitivo.
Families can be accommodated in rooms with 2 queen beds, and this is also one of the hotels in Anaheim with family suites – these 2 room suites can accommodate up to 6 people, so they are perfect for larger families. All rooms contain tea and coffee facilities, a microwave and a fridge.
Onsite the hotel has some great inclusions to help stretch your budget, including free daily hot buffet breakfast and free WiFi. And facilities to make your stay more enjoyable are a pool and a gym (in case walking in the parks isn’t enough cardio for you). Of course, there are paid amenities available to make your stay more convenient, such as parking and a guest laundry.
What’s to love?
Location. This is one of the top rated hotels for its location alone. Obviously, the proximity to Disneyland is a huge bonus; however the convenience of the available amenities also makes this one of the best Anaheim hotels for families.
What’s not to love?
Price, unfortunately. This is not one of the cheap hotels near Anaheim Disneyland… in fact, it’s the most expensive on this list. However, we thought it was worth including due to the fantastic location and amenities.
Summary
For one of the best family hotels near Disneyland based on location and amenities, you can’t go past the Best Western Plus Anaheim Inn – if you’ve got the budget, why not take advantage of the extra time you’ll have up your sleeve by being located so close to Disneyland!

Castle Inn and Suites
The Castle Inn and Suites is one of the coolest looking kid friendly hotels near Disneyland! Let your kids’ imaginations run wild as you pull up and park in your (free) parking – and they gaze upon the medieval castle that will be their home for the next few nights! Magical!
Speaking of magical, the location isn’t too bad either. A 12 minute walk or 5 mins by bus/car and you’ll be at Disneyland! And within a 5 minute walk, you’ll be at 2 of the infamous American food houses; IHOP and The Cheesecake Factory (don’t be fooled by the name – they serve a lot more than cheesecake). And for ultimate convenience when travelling with kids, there is a Walgreens Pharmacy close by.
Traditional style standard rooms contain 2 queen beds, and if you’re after Anaheim family suites near Disneyland – the Castle Inn has these too! With 2 bedroom suites accommodating up to 6 people. All rooms contain a small fridge, microwave and tea/coffee facilities.
Free WiFi and free parking are great drawcards, along with the heated outdoor pool, hot tub and kids wading pool – perfect for the littlies to splash around in! And there is an on-site laundry to freshen up travelling clothes.
What’s to love?
Obviously, the castle! It’s just so different to stay in and will completely add to the amazing Disney experience the kids will have! Family accommodation Anaheim has doesn’t come more unique than this!
What’s not to love?
Whilst the hotel’s exterior is amazing, the rooms are of a traditional style, so they are not to everyone’s tastes. There is nothing wrong with them; however if you’re looking for contemporary hotels around Anaheim, this wouldn’t be it.
Summary
To add to Disneyland’s magic, staying at the Castle Inn Suites will do just that! It is family accommodation in Anaheim that is conveniently located and oh so different!

Howard Johnson by Wyndham Anaheim Hotel
If you’re after one of the best family hotels near Disneyland Anaheim… look no further than Howard Johnson by Wyndham Anaheim Hotel! Not only a hotel, but it also has a waterpark too! Located around a 10 minute walk (6 minute bus) to Disneyland, your kids might have a hard time leaving the waterpark to visit ‘The Happiest Place on Earth!’
Location-wise, it is not the most convenient in terms of nearby amenities. However, there are a few small cafes and a Mcdonald’s just 5 minute walk. Alternatively, there is ‘Main St. Market’ onsite, which offers snacks and drinks and a few other resorts nearby with dining options.
Rooms are contemporary and ‘Disney-inspired’ with bedding comprising 2 queen beds. Room amenities include tea/coffee facilities. Rooms and most areas of the resort have been created with accessible amenities, so if there are any accessibility challenges in your family, this is a great resort to stay in.
Besides the convenience of free WiFi, parking (charged) and laundry… the main reason you would stay here is for the water playground. Castaway Cove has a pirate ship with water cannons, a 200-gallon drench bucket and a waterslide, all for the older kids. Younger ones will enjoy the spray fountains and wading pool.
What’s to love?
The water playground makes this one of the most family friendly hotels in Anaheim. And it really just adds to the magic of visiting Disneyland… to be able to return to the hotel and the fun doesn’t stop… what kid wouldn’t love that?!
What’s not to love?
If you’re after a whole heap of eateries and amenities outside the hotel within close proximity, then this might not be the best place to stay in Anaheim for you. However, whilst conveniently located close to Disneyland, it is a little further afield for other amenities.
Summary
When water parks and Disneyland combine… you get a very happy family. The Howard Johnson by Wyndham Anaheim Hotel is one of the best family friendly hotels Anaheim offers due largely to the onsite water playground.

Wyndham Anaheim
The Wyndham Anaheim is one of the top hotels in Anaheim if you want to be amongst loads of amenities. Whilst Disneyland is a 14 minute walk (7 minute bus) – there are loads of amenities within a couple of minutes walk, including two drugstores (CVS and Walgreens), 7-Eleven, Gift and Liquor stores, plus loads of eateries including Bubba Gump Shrimp, IHOP plus all your local pizza/Mexican joints.
Rooms are contemporary and well presented, accommodating guests in 2 queen beds. The rooms have a small fridge, microwave and tea/coffee facilities.
Onsite, there are loads of amenities, including a heated outdoor pool and hot tub, restaurant, cafe and market open 24 hours, laundry facilities and a 24/7 fitness centre.
Free WiFi and free parking will help with costs. And if you have a work emergency for whatever reason, you can jump into the comprehensive business centre to get it sorted.
What’s to love?
If amenities are important to you, the Wyndham Anaheim is one of the best places to stay in Anaheim. Surrounded by loads of retail outlets and eateries, it makes grabbing a cheap meal or picking up adhoc items super convenient. The accommodation is also fresh and contemporary, which not all Disney area hotels Anaheim has are.
What’s not to love?
If your family love to swim, the pool is on the smaller side. Whilst not a major drawback, if you’re there over the Summer months and it’s sweltering, it’s nice to have a decent pool to come back to and relax in after a day exploring the parks.
Summary
For contemporary accommodation that is conveniently located plus has loads of amenities onsite… the Wyndham Anaheim ticks all the boxes!

Clementine Hotel
The Clementine Hotel is bright and cheerful in colour – yellow and orange after the citrus Clementine fruit, which immediately puts you in a happy and vibrant mood. Located a 17 minute walk to Disneyland or around 10 mins by bus. Also nearby are some great cafes, including Cafe Bulba and Chaplus Modern Tea Room, both around a 5 minute walk.
If you’re looking for Anaheim hotels with family suites, the Clementine Hotel has a range of studio and one/two bedroom suites to suit most family sizes. For example, the studio suite will accommodate a family of four in a double bed and sofa bed, whilst the one and two-bedroom suites accommodate families of six and eight, respectively.
The fantastic feature in all room types is the full kitchen! You can stretch the budget by preparing and storing meals, and if you want to change up the cooking location, there is an outdoor BBQ area. Forget anything? A convenience store is on site to grab any of your missing ingredients.
Also onsite is a pool, sports court where you can play tennis, basketball and volleyball, and also a playground… so if you do have any energy left after visiting the Disneyland, you will be sure to use it all up at the Clementine’s facilities (and hopefully tire out the kids for a long sleep overnight)!
Another great way you will be saving dollars here is via the free parking – which from this article seems to be available at around half the properties… and being a little way out from Disneyland, you will be able to drive there if you need to.
What’s to love?
The full kitchen. For this alone, we would have to say this is one of the best family suites in Anaheim. Yes, you can find hotels closer to the parks; however most don’t come with a full kitchen… and when you’re travelling with kids, this just takes convenience to the next level!
What’s not to love?
Whilst this is one of the good hotels in Anaheim, it is a bit of a walk to Disneyland. However, remember there is free parking onsite, so you can drive to Disneyland if necessary.
Summary
Peel away the layers at the Clementine Hotel and you will find a great place to stay, with loads of family friendly amenities. Whilst not the closest location to Disneyland, we feel the kitchen and free parking make up for this.

Best Cheap Hotels in Anaheim
Need to save even more money on your Disneyland vacation? Then below, we’ve listed the very best cheap hotels around Anaheim for families.
Motel 6 Maingate Hotel
For cheap Disneyland hotels Anaheim has on offer, you can’t go past the Motel 6 Maingate Hotel. The Motel6 chain in America is synonymous with clean, simple and budget accommodation. And this Motel6 is just that, the cheapest by far in this guide. We stayed here for four nights during our recent visit to Anaheim and were very happy with our choice.
Located slightly further afield than most of the hotels in this guide, it takes around 18 minutes to walk to Disneyland from here. Although we never walked it, as we took the bus every day. The bus stops right outside the reception area and takes you straight to Disneyland which is super handy. The bus only takes around 6 – 11 minutes to Disneyland.
However, just a 5 minute walk away is the Anaheim Garden Walk where you’ll find a range of great places to eat such as The Cheesecake Factory. There is also a 7/11 just a 2 minute walk away and a few take out stores about a 5 minute walk away.
Rooms can accommodate families of four in two queen beds. The rooms are extremely spacious, as are the bathrooms, but you won’t be getting any tea/coffee amenities or daily housekeeping (hence the photo with unmade beds – sorry!). A small mini fridge would be a great addition, as this would be great for keeping your water bottles cold overnight and ready for long days at the park. There is however free coffee at reception for guests, as well as a microwave and drink vending machine.
Onsite, there is an outdoor pool to cool off, coin operated laundry to refresh travel clothes, vending machines for snacks and free WiFi. Another thing worth noting is we could see the Disneyland fireworks from the balcony outside of our room each night, which was a nice way to finish the evening.
While the accommodation is super simple, I’d still highly recommend it and would certainly stay here again. For those just wanting a cheap comfortable room, it’s absolutely perfect.
What’s to love?
Price! If you’re looking for cheap hotels at Disneyland Anaheim, the Motel 6 Maingate Hotel is the cheapest in this guide by far!
What’s not to love?
Lack of room amenities, I’d really like to see even a small bar fridge big enough for keeping cold water.
Summary
If you’re after basic accommodation to lay your head at night, and would rather use your budget on Disneyland activities, then you can’t go past this hotel. It is one of the cheap Disney hotels Anaheim offers that is still clean and comfortable.

Kings Inn
The Kings Inn is an unassuming little gem located around a 16 minute walk to Disneyland or 9 minutes by bus. The location is super convenient, as it is next to the Garden Walk Shopping Center. Filled with a range of eateries to suit every taste and budget.
Speaking of budget, the Kings Inn is one of the inexpensive hotels in Anaheim. But the price, or lack of, does not mean this hotel is not up to par… it is! With rooms accommodating families of four in two queen beds, there is also a fridge and coffee facilities in the rooms, meaning snacks and caffeine are easily available, saving you some dollars!
The property features include a swimming pool, hot tub, coin operated laundry and parking (at a charge).
And if you want to experience the magic of Disney at the hotel, there is a Fireworks Viewing Deck at the King’s Inn, meaning your nightly entertainment is covered if you have left the parks for the day.
What’s to love?
Price and location. Kings Inn is one of the discount hotels in Anaheim, saving you money – along with the location next door to the shopping centre where you can pick up cheap food and drink.
What’s not to love?
If you’re a pool loving family, the pool is on the smaller side. It’s still great to have a splash and refresh at the end of the day, but don’t expect to play ‘marco polo’ for hours on end.
Summary
The Kings Inn is great for families who don’t need flashy accommodation. However, we recommend the Kings Inn if you’re after somewhere clean and comfortable with great amenities close by.

Hotel Lulu BW Premier Collection
Hotel Lulu has contemporary Californian vibes with a convenient location and fantastic amenities, making this one of the best hotels in Anaheim for family. Only a 10 minute walk to Disneyland or 5 – 10 minutes on the bus and directly across the road from the Garden Walk Shopping Center – which has all your dining needs.
Rooms are modern and fresh and accommodate families of four in two double beds with the added convenience of a fridge, microwave and coffee/tea facilities in each room.
The onsite facilities are great for families, with Lulu’s Kitchen offering all day dining, which not many of the Anaheim hotels have. Meals can be easily ordered to eat poolside, in the restaurant or brought up to your room, with leftovers stored in the fridge. There is also a ‘proper’ coffee machine at the cafe, so for those craving a flat white or cappuccino, you’re taken care of.
The pool and surrounds look like a direct import from Palm Springs with yellow and white umbrellas, sun loungers and succulents. There is a giant Jenga the whole family can play or simply lounge in a cabana and enjoy some food from the restaurant.
Take advantage of the Best Western Premier Collection at Hotel Lulu whilst paying a mid-range price for modern accommodation in a good location.
What’s to love?
The whole vibe of this place is pretty cool, plus the convenience of an onsite restaurant and the mid-range price makes this one of the best family hotels Disneyland offers.
What’s not to love?
There’s not much to not love about this place; we would have to say there are hotels closer to the parks and also hotels with larger pools.
Summary
If you’re looking for one of the best hotels for Disneyland Anaheim, Hotel Lulu BW Premier Collection is up there. Kids will love the pool and the convenience of facilities close by for tired legs. Whilst adults will enjoy the modern accommodation and family friendly facilities onsite – including fresh coffee!

Candlewood Suites
The Candlewood Suites are part of the InterContinental Group of Hotels and offer all the facilities this group normally offers guests. However, what you make up for in facilities, you lose a bit in location, with this hotel being one of the furthest from Disneyland in this guide. Around a 20 minute walk however, if you get the bus, it will be around 11 – 20 minutes.
However, within a few minutes walk, you will find Starbucks, 7-Eleven and some local burger and seafood joints. Onsite, there is the ‘Candlewood Cupboard’ for simple snacks.
Rooms feature two queen beds to accommodate families of four, with the biggest drawcard being the fully functioning kitchen. It has a stove, microwave, toaster, fridge, dishwasher and all cooking and serving equipment. This is a great convenience for families, being able to prepare and store meals at the hotel; there is also an outdoor communal seating and BBQ area for a change of scenery when preparing meals.
Other property features include a guest laundry, gym, free WiFi, pool and business centre.
What’s to love?
The kitchen! Whilst this may not be one of the best hotels to stay in Anaheim due to the location, the kitchen does offer a huge convenience for families. Not only will this save money on meals, but it also saves time on having to find suitable eateries when little ones may be tired from a big day exploring the parks.
What’s not to love?
The location is not the greatest in terms of proximity to Disneyland.
Summary
If you’re not too fussed about the distance to Disneyland, the Candlewood Suites are a great option due to the full kitchen and onsite facilities.

Best Western Plus Stovall’s Inn
The Best Western Plus Stovall’s Inn is a 15 minute walk to Disneyland and a 20 minute walk to California Adventure Park and provides great family-friendly accommodation at a reasonable price. Plus, the bus stops right outside the hotel – this is super awesome for families with small children.
At the Best Western Plus Stovall’s Inn, family rooms can accommodate up to five people and include two double beds. Each room also includes air conditioning, a fridge, microwave, cable TV (including the Disney Channel, of course) and a coffee maker. If you have a large family, rollaway beds are available for a small fee.
If you don’t feel like preparing meals in your kitchenette, there is Coco’s bakery out the front of the hotel, a couple of eateries within a few minutes walk and also a ‘grab & go’ onsite, which is a self serve area containing snacks. Plus, the hotel also offers free daily breakfast for all guests.
For families who love the water, you are taken care of with two swimming pools, two hot tubs and a children’s wading pool. The hotel also has a fitness centre, coin operated laundry facilities and a business centre. Parking is available at an additional cost.
What’s to love?
Having the bus right outside the hotel and having not one but two onsite swimming pools is pretty cool.
What’s not to love?
There isn’t an onsite restaurant if you’re still hungry after eating everything at Disneyland; however there are plenty of eateries around the hotel and a ‘grab & go’ area onsite with simple snacks.
Summary
For families after lots of onsite water options at a mid-range price, the Best Western Plus Stovall’s Inn is one of the best hotels in Anaheim for kids.

Majestic Garden Hotel
The Majestic Garden Hotel has a lot going for it! First of all, it is a castle-themed hotel… which adds just a little bit more magic to your Disney holiday; it is chock full of amenities to make your family stay so convenient, and whilst it is a 20 minute walk to Disneyland – there is a free private shuttle service every 30 minutes to and from the park.
The hotel is smack bang in the middle of numerous busy roads with no restaurants within close proximity, which is why it’s lucky the hotel is jam packed with restaurants, pools and facilities on its 13 acres of stunning gardens.
Standard rooms have two double beds and can accommodate families of four. However, the Majestic is one of the hotels near Disneyland with kids suites, accommodating families up to six and featuring castle bunks! All rooms come with fridges, tea/coffee facilities and are traditionally furnished in dark wood.
Now let’s talk about all the fantastic amenities onsite! There are indoor and outdoor dining options with the California Deli for quick bites, the Bistro for relaxed meals and the Hanagi Japanese Restaurant for a culinary meal. In addition, there is an outdoor whirlpool, a heated pool, and a family game room with billiards. A guest laundry and fitness centre round out some great onsite amenities.
Whilst not one of the cheap hotels near Disney Anaheim, it isn’t one of the most expensive either. And considering all the amenities onsite and free shuttle, you’ll be saving time and money.
What’s to love?
Amenities and a free shuttle give this hotel the edge. Also, if you’re looking for themed Disneyland hotel rooms for kids and are happy to splurge, the castle bunks are a must!
What’s not to love?
If you’re looking for a location where you can stroll to amenities close by, unfortunately the Majestic Garden Hotel is not for you… however, with everything onsite, you might not need to go anywhere.
Summary
For hotels with kids’ suites near Disneyland with fantastic amenities, the Majestic Garden Hotel is one you should definitely check out!
