Where to stay in Loveland

While it is easy to walk around the Downtown District, all the attractions are well spread across Loveland, and you will need a car to see them all.  So while I do recommend staying Downtown, given you’ll have a car anyway, it really doesn’t matter where you stay in Loveland.

However, if you can, stay in the Downtown District.  This will mean in the evenings, you’re within an easy walk to a range of places to eat.  However, accommodation is limited Downtown and is more expensive than in other areas, so this may not always be possible.

Best Family Loveland Motels and Hotels

After hours of research and after spending some time exploring Loveland myself, I’ve shortlisted 10 of the best hotels and motels near Loveland for you to consider.

Ok, let’s get into it and find you the best Loveland, Colorado hotels and motels for families.

TownePlace Suites Loveland

Located just steps from the Foundry, where you will find plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars, the TownePlace Suites is the only hotel for families in the centre of the Downtown District.  We stayed here during our visit to Loveland and the location couldn’t be better!

From TownePlace Suites, you can easily walk from one end of the Downtown District to the other.  You’re also a short drive from all the other attractions around Loveland.

The hotel is beautiful and modern – one of the newest hotels in Loveland.  Rooms are massive, among the biggest hotel rooms in Loveland.  Family rooms come with two queen beds and a kitchenette and dining area.  This is perfect for families with younger children where you might want to stay in for meals at night.

Like most hotels around Loveland, a free breakfast is offered each morning.  While nothing flash, it includes eggs, waffles, cereals, yogurt and fruit – everything you need to start the day.  There is also a small mini market where you can buy drinks, snacks and even frozen meals to heat up in your room.

Other facilities at the hotel include an indoor swimming pool, gym, laundry and a beautiful outdoor area complete with a firepit – the perfect place to relax with a drink after dark.

What’s to Love?

The location – right across from the Foundry, where there are plenty of cafes and restaurants – this is the most centrally located hotel in this guide.

What’s not to Love?

This is the most expensive hotel in this guide – so if prime location is not a priority for you, then one of the cheap hotels in Loveland may be better.

Summary

For families with the budget, you really can’t find a better hotel in Loveland than the TownePlace Suites.  The location is second to none, not to mention spacious rooms with kitchens and loads of other facilities to ensure you have a comfortable stay.

Quality Inn & Suites

Staying in a hotel next to a Highway is usually not a drawcard, but the convenience of the  Quality Inn & Suites being right next to Highway 34 allows travellers the ability to jump on and off the highway with ease to explore the town and Rocky Mountain National Park. The hotel is also just a short walk away from Boyd Lake and around a 7 minute drive to the Downtown district.

Families of four are accommodated in rooms featuring two queen beds with in-room amenities including a coffee machine, microwave and mini fridge – basically all the essentials to prepare and store simple meals when travelling with children.

One meal you won’t need to prepare is breakfast, as the Quality Inn & Suites offers free daily breakfast. And it’s not just any breakfast; it’s a full feast including; eggs, yoghurt, fresh fruit, cereal, waffles and more… fuelling the entire family for the day, or at least until lunch. Other free amenities at this hotel include free parking and free WiFi.

There are some great facilities to enhance your stay, including an indoor pool and hot tub, a gym, an outdoor courtyard with a BBQ and a laundry (at a charge) to freshen up those travel clothes.

What’s to Love?

There are loads of inclusions to help stretch your budget at this mid-range hotel.

What’s not to Love?

While being next to the highway is convenient, there are better locations to stay.

Summary

A great family friendly hotel in Loveland with fantastic included amenities. Location-wise it is still convenient to get to downtown when driving, and the highway does offer easy access – you just have to weigh up whether you want to stay next to a highway.

Travelodge by Wyndham Loveland

The Travelodge by Wyndham Loveland is a block over from the Quality Inn & Suites (detailed above), so you’re in the same location – next to a Highway. Which, as we mentioned, is not always ideal. However, it offers the convenience of jumping on and off the highway with ease to explore the town and Rocky Mountain National Park.

Families of four are accommodated in rooms with two queen beds. The rooms are compact but have convenient amenities, including tea and coffee facilities, a microwave and a mini fridge. These essentials are just enough to ensure you can prepare a simple meal for the family to help stretch the budget.

The onsite facilities at the Travelodge are pretty minimal; there is free parking, a coin-operated laundry for guests to use and free WiFi. While there aren’t too many facilities, it is just a 7 minute drive to downtown and a short walk to Boyd Lake.  So if you’re just after somewhere convenient to stay and won’t be spending much time at the hotel, the Travelodge could be a contender for your stay in Loveland.

What’s to Love?

Price. This is one of the cheapest hotels in this guide.

What’s not to Love?

The lack of onsite facilities makes this hotel great to sleep at, but not much else.

Summary

If you’re looking to save on accommodation, but are still after a convenient location and in-room amenities, then the Travelodge could be for you. While there’s not much to do at the hotel if you’re just after somewhere to sleep then its worth considering.

Baymont by Wyndham Loveland

Baymont by Wyndham Loveland is right next to the Travelodge, detailed above.  As you can see the location is on Highway 34 which is convenient to jump on and off this main thoroughfare to reach the main attractions of Loveland. Plus you’re only a 7 minute drive to downtown.

Family rooms come with two queen beds, a microwave, a fridge and tea and coffee facilities. However, if you don’t want to eat or drink in your room, you can enjoy a free daily breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, muffins and more. Plus there is free 24-hour fresh coffee and tea available onsite.

Other freebies at the Baymont include free WiFi, free parking and complimentary use of a local gym.

If you take advantage of the local gym and have sore muscles, you can soak them at the Baymont’s hot tub or if you’ve got any energy left, swim a couple of laps in their heated pool. And if you’ve been travelling for a while and your clothes need a freshen up, there are paid laundry facilities onsite.

What’s to Love?

Price. Despite being one of the cheapest hotels in this guide, it sure does come with some convenient in-room amenities and hotel facilities.

What’s not to Love?

Location. Being on the highway is convenient; although doesn’t provide much of an ambience.

Summary

For such a well-priced hotel in a convenient location with loads of amenities, you can’t go wrong at Baymont by Wyndham Loveland.

La Quinta by Wyndham Loveland

La Quinta by Wyndham Loveland is on Highway 34, where quite a few of the other hotels in this guide are located. However, La Quinta is west of downtown Loveland, around an 11 minute drive. Whilst not a terribly long drive, it is in more of an isolated position than other hotels in this guide.

Two queen beds accommodate families of up to four at La Quinta. In room amenities include a coffee machine, microwave and a mini fridge – which are all great for families to heat up or store quick snacks – and of course, caffeine for the parents.

Breakfast is included in the price at La Quinta and is your typical continental breakfast with the addition of a waffle bar – kids will love this place for the waffle bar alone! Also included is free parking and free WiFi.

La Quinta has some great facilities onsite, including a swimming pool and hot tub, a gym and a convenience store for snacks and drinks.

What’s to Love?

Lots of hotel amenities are included in the price, which makes your budget spread further when travelling.

What’s not to Love?

The location is one of the more isolated hotels in this guide. If you’re happy to be a little out of the way, then this won’t be a concern for you.

Summary

A good hotel to consider for those who don’t mind being a little out of the way and prefer to have amenities included within the price instead of pay-as-you-go.

Hampton Inn Loveland

Hampton Inn Loveland is near the Loveland Visitor Centre and Centerra Marketplace – this is a huge precinct with over 150 businesses – from restaurants and boutiques to office space. So if you need some retail therapy, you’re in the right place. And Downtown is around a 13 minute drive away.

You’ll find the modern rooms are suitable for families of four with two queen beds, however for larger families, interconnecting rooms are available. In room, amenities include a coffee machine, microwave and mini fridge. There is a weekday newspaper delivery to keep you up to date with world events.

Every morning the whole family can enjoy a free hot breakfast to give you the fuel to tackle the day’s sightseeing. If you decide to stay at the hotel for the day, there is an indoor pool and gym to take advantage of. Or catch up online with free WiFi provided for all guests.  Onsite parking is also provided, although at an additional charge.

What’s to Love?

Great location near shops and food retailers to stock up.

What’s not to Love?

Parking not included is a bit of a disappointment when most hotels offer this free of charge.

Summary

Larger families will love the convenience of staying in interconnecting rooms, plus the location allows families to grab some cheap meals at the shops without having to eat at restaurants all the time.

Best Western Plus Loveland Inn

The Best Western Plus Loveland Inn is located near the Loveland Visitor Centre at the crossroads of the Interstate and Highway. Unlike the Hampton Inn (detailed above), this hotel is on the other side of the highway to Centerra Marketplace, so you wouldn’t be able to walk there. Luckily enough, there is a petrol station next door to the Best Western, so you’ll have enough fuel to get you around, including to Downtown, which is around a 13 minute drive.

Families of four will find the queen room with two queen beds adequate. The rooms also come with a coffee machine, microwave and mini fridge. If you prefer a full kitchen so you can prepare more of your meals, you can upgrade to a one-bedroom suite with a queen bed and sofa with full kitchen amenities.

One meal you won’t need to prepare is breakfast, which is complimentary for all guests and includes cereal, fruit, eggs, yoghurt, juice, coffee and waffles. There is also a restaurant onsite which serves traditional American dinners and specialty cocktails.

To burn off all this food, there is a gym onsite and a pool during the Summer months with poolside service in the afternoon and evening so you can enjoy snacks or your dinner as you take a refreshing dip – and leave the tidying up for someone else.

Other convenient onsite facilities include free parking, free WiFi, a coin-operated laundry and a convenience store to grab snacks and any necessities.

What’s to Love?

Many inclusions to help families stretch their budget.

What’s not to Love?

Being at the intersection of two major highways can be a bit annoying getting in and out of the hotel.

Summary

All in all, a good family hotel.  The location isn’t as convenient as some other properties in this guide, but you will be driving for most sightseeing anyways, so this shouldn’t be too much of a deterrent. Loads of inclusions justify this hotel’s mid-range (plus) pricing.

Wingate by Wyndham Loveland

Another hotel near the Loveland Visitor Centre is the Wingate by Wyndham – located across the highway from the Centerra Shopping Centre at the intersection of the Interstate and Highway. Yet the Wingate is situated on a quieter road, not on the highway like most other properties in this guide. And like the other hotels in this location, it’s about a 13 minute drive to Downtown.

Two queen beds will fit families of four nicely in the Queen Rooms at the Wingate, with rooms containing tea and coffee facilities. The great news is larger families of up to six can be accommodated in a King Studio Suite. These come with a kitchenette which is perfect for families wanting to prepare meals.

This well-priced, comfortable hotel comes with great inclusions, including free breakfast, free parking and free WiFi. Onsite facilities to make your stay more comfortable are an indoor pool and jetted hot tub and a gym.

What’s to Love?

Despite being one of the cheaper hotels, you still get a lot included with your money here.

What’s not to Love?

A little bit isolated with not too many facilities within close proximity.

Summary

The Wingate hotel is a great family friendly property that is well priced and has great facilities. It’s also perfect for those larger families who need more space to accommodate everyone.

Courtyard by Marriott

The contemporary Courtyard by Marriott is right across the road from the Chapungu Sculpture Park and a short distance from the Loveland Visitor Centre.  It’s also just a 13 minute drive Downtown.

Rooms contain a King bed and sofa bed which combined can accommodate families of four. The muted colour palette and timber accents ensure you relax in your room and take in the beauty of your surroundings. For hot beverages, there are tea and coffee facilities in the room, along with a mini fridge to store any drink bottles.

If you like the convenience of dining where you stay, the Marriott has a restaurant onsite open 7 days for breakfast, dinner and evening beverages. Other convenient onsite facilities include a pool and hot tub, coin-operated laundry, parking (at a charge), free WiFi and a gym with mountain views.

What’s to Love?

This is a beautiful contemporary hotel, one of the nicest in this guide.

What’s not to Love?

For one of the more expensive properties in this guide, it’s a shame there aren’t more inclusions, like free parking or free breakfast, to help balance out the nightly rate.

Summary

If you like to stay in modern accommodation with top tier facilities like an onsite restaurant, pool and gym then the Courtyard by Marriott could be for you; just keep in mind it is one of the more expensive properties and with limited inclusions.

Comfort Suites

Just off Interstate 25 and Highway 34, the Comfort Suites is near the Loveland Visitor Centre, about a 13 minute drive from Downtown.  One of the best things about the location of this hotel is you’re surrounded by a range of restaurants, which makes finding somewhere for dinner after a full day of sightseeing easy.

Larger families will love this hotel as rooms can accommodate up to six guests in two queen beds and a sofa bed. Rooms come with basic amenities to heat and store quick meals, such as a microwave and a mini fridge, and if you’ve got sleepless young kids, you’ll love the in-room coffee machine to help you wake up in the morning.

The drawcard for kids at the Comfort Suites is the 3-story waterslide landing in the heated pool and the shallow children’s area to splash. Parents will love the outdoor hot tub and maybe the gym if you’re a fitness fanatic. Another great family facility is the onsite laundry (at a charge), so you can get the kids clothes washed, so you’re not continually packing dirty clothes from place to place.

There’s a decent amount of inclusions, including daily hot breakfast, free parking and free WiFi.

What’s to Love?

The great kid-friendly facilities onsite mean the kids will enjoy coming back to the hotel – however, you may struggle to get them to leave.

What’s not to Love?

This is one of the more expensive hotels in this guide; however the number of inclusions and onsite facilities offset the cost.

Summary

A great family friendly hotel with loads of inclusions to help stretch your budget as the hotel is a little more expensive than others in this guide.
