Turtle Beach Hotel Restaurant
The Turtle Beach Gili Air hotel’s restaurant looks out over the beautiful crystal blue waters of the Indian ocean and has fantastic views of Lombok’s mountainous coast line. On the water’s edge are bamboo lounges with small tables where you can laze about or a bit further back in the restaurant are tables and chairs.
The restaurant serves local and western food at really great prices. In fact prices here are some of the cheapest you will find along the beachfront. Meals start at 55,000 IRD (approximately $5.50 AUD) and the most expensive item is 95,000 IRD ( approximately $9.50 AUD).
In the mornings the view is breathtaking as this is the side of the island where the sun rises. Most mornings we enjoyed our breakfast whilst watching fisherman cast their long nets. The breakfast is pretty good to with guests choosing from bacon and eggs, cereals or pancakes. Fruit juice, coffee and tea as well as fresh fruits are also included with breakfast.
In the restaurant in the evening, you can hear the waves lapping at the foot of your table and see the lights of Lombok in the distance.. The restaurant is lit by colourful lanterns and you will also see the silhouette of the fisherman boats.
The restaurant serves a great variety of cocktails and we tried a few of them including. Late in the afternoon we even had cocktails poolside which was a nice way to finish off a day of exploring. Cocktails are around 85,000 IRD (approximately $8.50 AUD) each.
In the centre of the grounds is a mid-size swimming pool with plenty of sun lounges around it. One of my favourite things to do during our stay was to lounge around the pool, and write this article in fact. The pool has 2 depths, with a shallow end and a deep end. The shallow end also has a few steps which are big enough for a toddler or baby to splash around on. Myla could easily stand up in the shallow end of the pool.
You can hire snorkels and bicycles directly from Turtle Beach resort Gili Air. The hotel will also arrange any transport you need for getting to other islands including Bali and Lombok as well as snorkelling tours.
The service at Turtle Beach Hotel was fantastic! All the staff are super friendly and very attentive. Every time you walk past someone they always smile and ask how you are. They even knew all the guests names including the varying kids staying there.
