Where to stay in Khao Sok National Park

Unlike other tourist areas in Thailand, there aren’t too many areas to choose from in terms of where to stay in Khao Sok National Park.

Your main choices are to stay in the Khao Sok Village or a floating bungalow on Cheow Lan Lake.  As this article is only focusing on accommodation in Khao Sok Village, let’s just talk about where to stay within the village.

Most of the accommodation is along the street, just outside the gates to the Khao Sok National Park.  This is where you’ll also find restaurants, cafes and a few shops.

There are a few accommodation options scattered around the back streets off the main road as well.  These are perfect for those wanting a more secluded experience.  It’s also where you’ll find most of the treehouses that Khao Sok is so famous for.

Of course, the further you stay away from the main street, the more walking you’ll need to do or take taxis when getting around.

The centre of town is considered to be where the Sok River passes through the main street.  About 200 metres or so in either direction is where you’ll find most of the cafes, restaurants and shops – so this area is the most convenient if you don’t want to walk too far.

To help you choose the ideal location, in the table above, the distance to Sok River is noted.

Best places to stay in Khao Sok National Park with kids

After hours of research and staying in Khao Sok National Park myself,  I’ve shortlisted and reviewed 10 of the best places to stay Khao Sok National Park offers for families.

Khao Sok River & Jungle Resort

The Khao Sok River & Jungle Resort is gorgeous and is in the centre of town, with several restaurants within 100 metres.  The resort features detached low rise wooden bungalows on stilts, a restaurant, a bar and a lovely tree filled garden.

We stayed here for a night while in Khao Sok Village and highly recommend it.

The family bungalow sleeps up to 4 people with two queen beds. There is air conditioning, a fridge, a kettle, plus a shower in the ensuite. Each bungalow has a front porch with seating overlooking the tropical garden.

Breakfast is included in the room rate and is plentiful and delicious.

What we love?

This hotel has a super convenient location in the centre of town. I also found that the customer service was excellent and personable. Plus the quality of the rooms and facilities are great value for money.

What’s not to love?

Bungalows only come with two queen beds, so the kids will need to share.

Khao Sok Tree House Resort

Check out the colourful and quirky rooms at the stunning Khao Sok Tree House Resort, which is only 950 metres from the town centre. There are a few restaurants within a short walk.

Khao Sok Tree House Resort has a bean shaped pool, a bar and a restaurant, all built into their forest surroundings. Breakfast is included in the room price (although it’s not very good!).

The property has just 15 rooms on offer, all located within the trees between 4 to 15 metres above the ground.  Family treehouses sleep up to 4 people in 2 double beds with nets.  For larger families, there are two treehouses that sleep up to 10 people. In fact, these may be the only bamboo house Khao Sok has for larger families.

Rooms feature air conditioning, a fridge, a TV, a fan and a shower in the ensuite.   There is also a private outdoor seating area.

Keep in mind being a treehouse, there are plenty of stairs to be climbed everytime you come and go – which may not be ideal for younger kids or anyone with mobility issues.

We stayed here for a night while in town and found it ok – we preferred the Jungle Resort in the centre of town.  However, if you’ve got your heart set on a treehouse – then this is a good option.
