Best Place to Stay in Noosa with Kids

The area of Noosa includes the suburbs of Noosaville, Noosa Heads, Noosa North Shore, Sunshine Beach, Sunrise Beach, Marcus Beach, Peregian Beach and various hinterland areas. In this where to stay in Noosa with kids guide, the focus will be on Noosaville and Noosa Heads as they are the most popular holiday spots with families and the closest areas to the Noosa tourist attractions.

Below I have provided a brief overview of the popular Noosa areas so you can determine which area is best for your family holiday.

Noosaville Family Accommodation

The area of Noosaville includes the Noosa River, Lake Weyba and the area referred to as Noosa Sound. A lovely family area, with great playgrounds and parklands along the Noosa River and plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops along Gympie Terrace.

Noosaville is a popular choice for families as there is plenty of great value Noosaville family accommodation available, including a multitude of self-contained Noosa apartments.

Noosa River Accommodation

Along Gympie Terrace (and the side streets) on Noosa River, there are a variety of shops, places to eat, Noosa River boat hire and lovely parklands. There is an abundance of great value Noosaville accommodation just perfect for families here. See below for some recommendation for Noosa River accommodation.

Noosa Sound Accommodation

Noosa Sound is a little more isolated but is on the most picturesque part of the river. Noosa Sound is one of the few areas where you will find absolute Noosa beachfront accommodation. This is also the ideal location if you are bringing your own boat as you can moore your boat right outside your accommodation.  See below for some recommendation for Noosa Sound accommodation.

Lake Weyba Accommodation

Lake Weyba is inland from the Noosa River and Noosa Sound and refers to the area surrounding the massive saltwater lake, Lake Weyba. The area is relatively quiet and certainly away from all the hustle and bustle of Noosa. This area is perfect for people who want to be away from it all.  See below for some recommendation for Lake Weyba accommodation.

Noosa Heads Accommodation

Noosa Heads includes the famous Hastings Street, Noosa Main Beach, Noosa National Park (home to some gorgeous beaches and lovely walks), Noosa Spit Recreation Reserve (one side of the reserve is beachfront, and the other side is riverfront), and the shopping area of Noosa Junction.

Hastings Street Accommodation

For those who want to be in the centre of the action, then check out the Noosa family accommodation Hastings Street has. This is where you will find designer shops, fancy Noosa accommodation for families and cosmopolitan cafes and alfresco dining. Hastings Street accommodation includes Noosa luxury accommodation, with some of the Noosa 5 star resorts being right on the Noosa Main Beach.

This is undoubtedly the place to be if you want to stay in the well known named Noosa resorts for families. Hastings St Noosa accommodation is ideal for those with only a few days in Noosa as everything is right there and you can easily walk to all the main Noosa attractions. See below for some recommendations for Noosa accommodation, Hastings Street.

Noosa Junction

If you want to stay close to Hastings Street but not in the centre of it, then consider staying along Noosa Drive heading towards Noosa Junction. This is a hill though, so while it offers some fantastic views, it can be a pain walking back and forth to the beach up and down the hill (see below about Noosa buses). I quite like this area though as it is close to Noosa Junction.  Noosa Junction is a great little shopping area (much quieter than Hastings Street) with some great little pubs, cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, cinemas and shops. See below for some recommendation for other Noosa Heads accommodation.

Best Family Accommodation – Noosa

To help you make an informed choice about which property you book for your Noosa holidays with kids, I have provided information for each Noosa family resort accommodation option included the resorts facilities as well as the room amenities.  I’ve also included walking and driving distances from the main attractions in Noosa.

You will note that the family friendly accommodation Noosa offers is by no means cheap – however in this guide, I have provided the best value accommodation in terms of facilities and locations.  You can of course get much more expensive accommodation and for even cheaper accommodation expect to stay in a much less central place as well as having fewer facilities.

My last tip for booking a Noosa family hotel is don’t delay in booking.  Noosa is extremely popular, and all the best family resorts Noosa has book out quick all year round – so don’t take too long on deciding which apartment.
