For families after cheap accommodation Rainbow Beach has, which is super close to the beach, self contained as well as having a pool, then it doesn’t get much better than these privately rented apartments at the Rainbow Beach Resort – one of the best value holiday houses Rainbow Beach has!
Airbnb has a few different apartments listed for Rainbow Beach Resort with the choice between either a fully self contained 2 or 3 bedroom apartment. The 2 bedroom apartments come with a queen in the master bedroom and two single beds in the second bedroom. The 3 bedroom apartments tend to come with a queen in two of the rooms and two singles in the third bedroom.
Inside the apartments, you will find a large balcony which has an outdoor setting and views of the lap pool. The apartments include wifi, aircon, ceiling fans and undercover parking is provided.
The apartment is in a complex which has two swimming pools, a full size tennis court, table tennis as well as two BBQs. Plus the complex is only 300m from the beach and 2kms from the shopping and dining precinct of Rainbow Beach.
What’s to love?
The price and location – this place offers the best value for money – perfect for families after Rainbow Beach cheap accommodation.

Rainbow Beach Esprit House
If you’re a large family who wants loads of space or just a family that wants to have the pool all to yourself, then Rainbow Beach Esprit House is what you’ve been looking for! Located on Espirit Drive in Rainbow Beach, this huge 4 bedroom home with a swimming pool is the ultimate family getaway.
This Rainbow Beach holiday house accommodation has 4 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 8 guests. The master bedroom has a king bed, the second bedroom has a queen bed and the last two bedrooms each have two single beds in them. This is perfect for the large family or even two families on holiday together.
The house comes with everything you need, including a fully equipped kitchen, laundry and a spacious living area. There is a TV with Austar, ceiling fans throughout and an outdoor area.
Of course, the main attraction is having your very own swimming pool. It comes with an outdoor shower, plus there is a BBQ and even boat parking! You can even bring your pet – but they must be kept outside and please keep in mind the property is not fully fenced.
The home is just 300m away from the beach and 2km from the main shopping and dining precedent of Rainbow Beach.

It’s tough to fault this place, perhaps the distance from the centre of town may be an issue for some.

Bluewater Lodges
Located in the same area as the previous properties, Bluewater Lodges is another great Rainbow Beach accommodation option for families. This particular property is also pet friendly, so no need to leave your dog at home either.
The property on offer is a 3 bedroom townhouse which can accommodate up to 6 people. On the ground level, there are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with two single beds. The ground level also has a bathroom. Upstairs is the master bedroom with an ensuite.
The townhouse has a fully equipped kitchen, two lounge rooms and two dining areas, so plenty of space plus there is a great ground level deck with a BBQ. There are a few extra bits and pieces too like books, games, picnic blanket, reusable bags and beach toys. Other amenities include aircon and two undercover car parks.
On site, there is a 20 metre lap pool, air conditioned gym, large spa and a range of walking tracks.
The townhouse is just a 5 minute walk to the beach and a short drive to the main town area.
What’s to love?
Having multiple living areas is excellent so the kids can have their space and parents have their space too.
What’s not to love?
Families with young children may not appreciate the stairs in the townhouse.
Summary
This townhouse at the Bluewater Lodges is another excellent property and perfect for a family looking for where to stay in Rainbow Beach. With plenty of space and a gorgeous pool on site, it is an excellent alternative to a Rainbow Beach hotel.

Naiad Court – Rainbow Shores
Another great property for families that want the place entirely to themselves is this brilliant home at 7 Naiad Court. With three bedrooms, this home can accommodate large families of up to 8 people.
This is such a stunning home, coming with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master bedroom is upstairs and comes with an ensuite. Downstairs are the other two bedrooms with one bedroom containing a queen bed and the third bedroom containing two sets of bunk beds. All bedrooms and living areas have aircon, and the home also includes wifi.
The pool is stunning and its all yours! The pool is surrounded by a lovely tropical garden and a deck with an outdoor setting. The property is fully fenced and small pets are welcomed to come provided they stay outside throughout your stay.
The back deck leads to a bush pathway which is just 300 metres away from Rainbow Beach.
What’s to love?
Everything! This property is just gorgeous and the pool is such a bonus.
What’s not to love?
Again, this property is hard to fault. Perhaps for families with young children they might not appreciate a two storey home.
Summary
For large families looking for their own space without blowing the budget, this is the house for you. This place is cheaper than most of the resorts and you get triple the space! If you want a stunning property with a gorgeous pool just a couple hundred metres from the beach – you can’t beat this place.

The Plantation Resort Rainbow Beach
The Plantation Resort, Rainbow Beach is a centrally located luxury resort, right across from the beach and surrounded by shops and places to eat in the centre of the township. It is a popular resort for families, although it is a 5 star resort so you can expect to pay for the privilege of staying here.
The resort offers families either 2 or 3 bedroom fully self contained apartments, most with stunning views across the beach. The apartments come with master bedrooms featuring a king bed and ensuite, while the remaining bedrooms come with two single beds.
The apartments are very modern and have a fully equipped kitchen and an open plan living area. Terraces or balconies include outdoor furniture and inside includes air conditioning.
On site, the resort has a pool and spa both which are heated for all year swimming. There is also undercover secure parking.
What’s to love?
Location, location, location! With the beach across the road and surrounded by shops, the Plantation, Rainbow Beach resort is centrally located.
What’s not to love?
The price! This is not a cheap resort by any means, and you are paying for the 5 stars and the central location.

Rainbow Sea Resort
Rainbow Sea Resort is another stunning 5 star resort in Rainbow Beach which is centrally located. The property is right across from the patrolled beach and it’s just a short walk to all the shops and places to eat in town.
The resort offers families either 2 or 3 bedroom; fully self contained apartments. The apartments have a queen bed in the master bedroom with two single beds in the remaining bedrooms.
Each apartment comes with a fully equipped kitchen, laundry and ensuite bathrooms with a double spa bath. The apartments have a great open plan living space which flows out to the spacious balcony which has spectacular ocean views and outdoor furniture. Other features include air conditioning and ceiling fans and on site, there is a stunning swimming pool.
What’s to love?
The views and the location. These apartments are centrally located and have great views across the ocean.
What’s not to love?
They are a bit pricey compared to what you pay for other accommodation, but your paying for those million dollar views and central location.
Summary
If you’re the sort of family that needs views of the ocean at all times during your holiday, then the Rainbow Sea Resort is probably where you want to book. It is a stunning resort with gorgeous modern apartments and of course those spectacular million dollar ocean views.
Rainbow Sea Resort also has a few apartments privately listed on Airbnb, however at the time of publishing Booking.com was actually cheaper. Nevertheless, I suggest you compare prices when booking.

Rainbow Getaway Holiday Apartments
If you’d like to stay centrally within the Rainbow Beach township but not keen on paying top dollar for it – then the Rainbow Getaway Holiday Apartments are worth checking out. These holiday apartments are just a 2 minute walk to the local supermarket, as well as other shops and places to eat and only 650m from the beach.
Families can choose between 1, 2 or 3 bedroom fully self contained apartments. The apartments are multi level with the bedrooms upstairs and the living areas downstairs. Each apartment comes with a fully equipped kitchen as well as laundry facilities. Other features include air conditioning, wifi, small balcony with outdoor seating and most apartments come with a spa bath.
There are some great facilities on site for families, including a spacious swimming pool, gym, BBQ area and even a children’s playground. Secure undercover parking is also provided.
What’s to love?
Great facilities for families as well as a central location to the local shops and places to eat.
What’s not to love?
Some families with little ones might not appreciate the multi levels of the apartments.

For those families that are looking for Rainbow Beach accommodation cabins, below we look at some of the local caravan parks on offer.
Rainbow Beach Holiday Village
In terms of Rainbow Beach caravan parks, the Rainbow Beach Holiday Village is the most centrally located. With prime position right across from the beach and within walking distance to all the shops and places to eat in town, this is certainly a convenient place to stay.
At Rainbow Beach Holiday Village, there is a range of cabins available for families. Choose from Olympic Villas which are either ocean or pool view or the Chalets, all of which are two bedroom and fully self contained. These cabins come with a queen size bed in one room and a bunk bed in the other room, with some having an additional single bed.
The cabins come with air conditioning in the living area and have a verandah with outdoor seating. The Poolside and Ocean Villas also come with a spa bath!
There are some excellent facilities on site for families to enjoy at Rainbeach Holiday Village. There is a large swimming pool; two covered BBQ areas with push button gas BBQs, There is also a BP petrol station where as well as fuel you can stock up on basic supplies as well as buy snacks and drinks.
What’s to love?
There is plenty to love about the Rainbow Beach Holiday Village – it’s in a great location right across from the beach, self contained accommodation ad great on site facilities.
What’s not to love?
Being a popular caravan park in town, the property and the various facilities can get busy during peak season.
Summary
For super central accommodation, which is self contained and won’t blow your budget, you really can’t go wrong with the Rainbow Beach Holiday Village. It’s a great alternative to a Rainbow Beach motel or hotel.

Big4 Rainbow Beach Holiday Park
Another popular caravan park in town is the Big4 Rainbow Beach Holiday Park. The Big4 is located on the other side of the peninsular on the waterfront in a relatively isolated location. However, it is just a couple of minutes drive to the centre of town.
Located on an inlet of the Great Sandy Strait, the Big4 is the perfect waterfront position for those planning on bringing a boat or spending a lot of time on the water kayaking or fishing. Other facilities in the park include BBQ areas, jumping pillow, playground and laundry.
There is a vast range of cabin options here from basic cabins to self contained spa villas. Here is a quick overview of the different accommodation on offer:

The price of these cabins are super good value, plus this is the ideal spot for families who love their fishing and boating.
What’s not to love?
The location is isolated and away from the centre of the town, but just a short drive away. Also, there is no swimming pool here.

Rainbow Beach hostels aren’t just for backpackers; there are also some good hostels in Rainbow Beach that provide some great family rooms too.
Pippies Rainbow Beach
Pippies Rainbow Beach is a great little hostel in town which offers a family room in their backpackers or there is also the option of their private beachside apartments.
The hostel is located in the centre of town, about a 5 minute walk to the beach and surrounded by shops and places to eat. Facilities at the hostel include wifi, free breakfast, pool, laundry, communal kitchen, BBQ area, pool table and parking. Family rooms feature one queen bed and two sets of bunk beds. The room has a private bathroom, air conditioning but no other facilities.
The Pippies beachside apartment is fantastic value for money for a family just wanting the cheapest self contained accommodation in town. The apartment is super centrally located across from Lawrie Hanson Park (where the famous Rainbow steps are) which leads on to the beach as well as just down the road from the local supermarket and other shops and places to eat.
The apartments are two story and sleep up to 5 people. Upstairs is the master bedroom which has a queen bed, while the other bedroom has a set of bunk beds and a single bed. All rooms have fans but are not air-conditioned. The apartments are fully self contained, with the lower level featuring a fully equipped kitchen and living area.
While there is no pool at the apartments, guests are welcome to head over to the Pippies Backpackers and use the pool and all other facilities there.
What’s to love?
If you’re after cheap accommodation at Rainbow Beach, that is centrally located, you can’t go wrong with either the family room or the beachside apartment. If you plan on spending all your time at the beach – I’d choose the apartments.
What’s not to love?
The accommodation is pretty basic, but then your not paying much for it.
Summary
For families looking for cheap accommodation, yet still wanting to be in the centre of town and close to the patrolled beach, Pippies Backpackers is the perfect choice.
